Story on back of card
This is a scene my niece, Rose, asked me to paint for her. She imagined an old stone cottage with a wild and slightly mysterious garden dominated by greens, greys, pinks and purples. I drew inspiration from my old sandstone home, Abergeldie, near Sydney and from the beautiful Garden of St Erth in Victoria. It belongs to the Diggers Club that provides the heirloom flower and vegetable seeds for my garden. Rose’s cats, Geoffrey and Margot, are watching from the doorstep and the roses in the foreground symbolise my lovely niece.
