This escapee from a nearby farm lived wild in the bush until we lured her onto our farm. When the owners arrived to collect her she jumped right out of the cattle race to rejoin my cows. It seemed she really wanted to stay so I bought her. The neighbour joked her name was “dinner”! I made it Dinah after Alice in Wonderland’s white cat.
The Murray Grey is an Australian beef breed. It originated in 1905 on a farm beside the Murray River as a result of a chance mating between a roan Shorthorn cow and a black Angus bull.
