I live in a much-loved sandstone cottage named Abergeldie on the outskirts of Sydney, NSW. It was built in or very soon after 1889 using sandstone quarried on the edge of the property. My once-feral cats, Lily and Cobweb, watch from the veranda as my dogs, Eva and Phoebe, play on the gravel path. There are also two tiny blue wrens in the gutter of the veranda where I spied them hopping around while I was painting. It took us months to find the gardening glove Eva the Thiever is stealing in this painting!
